As well as doing school
presentations we can also offer longer workshops to possibly enhance the
school day or to give a large group of people a slightly more detailed overview of our band.
As always, our primary reason for any such workshop is to
offer young people the chance to be part of our organisation, by getting out
there in the locality and demonstrating what we have to offer.
The format can be customized to some degree, however as a
minimum it would entail...
 |
A short vocal introduction to 'break the ice' and tell the group
a little more about our band
|
 |
A viewing of our recruitment DVD which runs for approximately 5
minutes, and which gives the audience a feel for what it's all about. It's
comforting for some young people to see that though 'older' people are actually
doing the workshop (our members being absent because they're at school), they can see kids of a similar age actively involved in banding.
|
 |
Demonstration of each of the 4 sections by our Instructors.
|
 |
Hands-on - This is the most substantial part of the presentation,
and where we invite the young people to actually have a go in each section to see if anything suits them. It would be highly desirable to
separate the different sections so as to lessen the 'noise' from
other sections.
|
 |
After some basic instruction, we will attempt to teach a couple
of simple exercises to everyone, with the main objective being to 'unite' each
section as one band by the end of the workshop.
